Aims:

The aims of this course include:

  • Reflection on the current legislative and policy framework and how this has linked with research in education to shape current best practice across Scotland.
  • A consideration of the impact of external influences on us all, but particularly on child development and maturation of emotional regulation.
  • Explore and better understand some of the underlying issues and the challenges arising from children and young people who have difficulty regulating their responses to fear and anxiety.
  • Consider options for helpful responding, in terms of accepted theory and effective practice.
  • Consider our practice in Highland and what steps are needs to improve outcomes for staff in schools and pupils.
