Aims:

  • To raise awareness of change, loss & bereavement.
  • To promote understanding of CLB and how to respond appropriately to those experiencing CLB.
  • To consider the effect these events might have for a child/young person and consider how this impacts on their ability to engage both with classroom activities/ learning and the wider world.
  • To support participants to leave feeling more confident in responding to CLB issues and to be aware of resources (including other staff) to support them in doing so.

  • Secondary losses
  • Brief introduction to theories of grief
  • Examples of YP’s experiences of CLB
  • Your role in supporting YP
  • How to respond to CLB
  • Support available
  • Provides information about further courses, reading and resources available

Notes: Grief is a normal and natural reaction to a loss. Children and young people grieve just as deeply as adults but they show it in different ways Children and young people rely on the adults around them to support them in their grief journey.This training is a foundation level course to provide attendees with an opportunity to consider how grief impacts for children and young people who are dealing with significant change,loss and/or bereavement. Those attending should leave with a basic knowledge and understanding of what they can do to support C&YP at a universal level to allow all C&YP to Thrive.
